Quakers stop BU, 8-5, to reach Final Four again
(CONTINUED)
The Terriers regained the lead three minutes later on a Xan Weitzel goal, but Penn drew even just a minute after BU's second goal when Giulia Giordano scored unassisted, and then nearly seven minutes later Lehman gave the Quakers a lead they would not relinqish.
Kaitlyn Lombardo made the score 4-2 with 9:14 left before halftime, and although Penn had several opportunities to pull away the rest of the half they either put their shots wide, off the post, or into the stick of BU goalie Rachel Klein.
Just more than four minutes into the second half, BU ended a goalless span of 25 minutes and 29 seconds when Morton scored her second goal of the day. Over the next 14 minutes, though, Penn scored four goals to essentially put this game away.
Sophomore Emma Spiro (two goals) broke in for an unassisted goal with 23:52 left in the game, and then nearly eight minutes later she connected on a free-position goal that pushed the Quakers to a 6-3 lead.
Manson finished an Allison Ambrozy feed with 14 minutes left to give the Quakers a 7-3 advantage, and then Ali DeLuca completed Penn's run with 11:53 to play on an unassisted effort.
Both goalies had strong; while Sarah Waxman was making nine saves in the Penn cage, Klein came up with 13 stops for the Terriers. Penn outshot BU, 30-21, and had 11 draw controls to the Terriers' four.
