Malvern Prep solves GA zone, clinches Inter-Ac

(CONTINUED)

Also scoring for Malvern Prep were Matt Conte and Matt Mackrides. Chris Layne contributed three assists. Goalie Andrew O’Connell had eight saves.
“They play that really packed in zone that is hard to crack,” said McEvoy. “We wanted to keep getting possessions and attack the shorties. We got some good looks early and eventually they had to come out of it.”
GA, ranked fifth by Phillylacrosse.com, fell to 5-4 in the Inter-Ac and 11-5 overall. JR Borneman had two goals for the Patriots while Reed Marko and Craig Burnett added one apiece.
“This is my 24th year here and that is just about the best team I’ve ever seen play,” said GA coach David Martin. “They execute and they were well-coached and well-prepared.
“They have tremendous stick skills. They have great players, and they have a lot of them. We play (today) against North Penn, and we play Haverford School on Friday, so we don’t have a lot of time to cry.”
