Numbers are all adding up for Drexel's Bill

(CONTINUED)

“Being a senior, I try to be a leader just by working hard,” said Bill, who scored 38 goals last year. “Many goals have come from a team effort and you see that in our game stats. Not one person is doing the scoring. There are a lot of assisted goals.
“That’s also a testament to the defense. They’ve been amazing at getting the ball back and working toward transitions. It’s a complete effort.”
Bill said the last two wins were more special because of the spirited comebacks.
“I think we’re doing really great,” Bill said. “I am really excited that we’ve shown a lot of character with the comebacks. Even when we got down, we didn’t let it affect us.”
Bill knows plenty about big challenges. Her business program requires five years of school and three internships. The work can be grueling when you’re playing a Division I sport, but she is focused on the task “I think the involvement of school and athletics has helped me be organized,” she said. “When I have to get stuff done, it forces me to get up every morning and go to class. I can be successful in the class even though I have this time commitment.”
Bill has already interned for an insurance company and an engineering firm. At the end of the month, she begins a year-long internship with KPMG International, a Big Four public accounting firm in the city.
“I think I want to go into auditing,” Bill said. “I also may pursue investment banking.”
Before she tackles the books, though, Bill has several goals to achieve on the lacrosse field. Last year the Dragons were a solid 12-5, but only 3-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).
That 3-4 mark, though, is the best Drexel has had in league play since entering the conference in 2002. Bill and the Dragons are shooting to make the playoffs and also make some waves.
“It’s been such a team effort,” Bill said. “And that will be important for us later in the season with the tougher games in conference play.
